Affordable homes the focus for Yeoman

Delivering affordable homes to Kiwis has become a focus for Hamilton based Yeoman Homes. Company owner Andrew Yeoman says that with a certain combined income plus a $35,000 deposit from savings, their Kiwisaver fund and the Government grant, Yeoman Homes can probably help buyers to purchase a new home.
“We often see people held back from purchasing their first home because they forget that it’s not necessary to buy their dream home first up.
It’s essential to get into the market. Then over time by paying down the mortgage and with hopefully some capital gains on the home they can take the next step,” says Andrew who says he takes great pride in helping people into their first home.
Yeoman Homes is Hamilton’s largest home builder and the company has almost finished a major subdivision in the city’s northeast called Ridgedale, some of which was affordable homes.
Started in 2015 on 6.2 hectares the mediumdensity development will eventually include 145 houses. While most homes in Hamilton are single storey Ridgedale is largely comprised of two storey buildings.
“It’s the way the world is going in larger cities,” says Andrew. “We have noticed a real trend towards people wanting a new home without a large section to maintain.”
All of Yeoman Homes are double-glazed, and fitted with heat pumps, above-code insulation and LED lighting. Each home has a 10-year Master Build Guarantee offered and there is very little maintenance in a new home.
He says there is increased demand for affordable homes reflecting Kiwis desire to enter the property market with their first home.
Yeoman Homes is set to release several developments to the market from two bedroom terrace homes in the mid 400s to three bedroom, two bathroom terrace homes starting in the mid 500s.
While the company historically has mainly offered mid-range priced homes in the 600s and 700s, Andrew says that Yeoman Homes aims to offer diversity from smaller homes on smaller sites to upmarket homes on larger sites to cater to all spectrums of the market.

Yeoman Homes was started by Andrew over 15 years ago with the goal of delivering great value high quality homes.
The company aims to remove hassle from building by providing pre-established design options, tailored to the customer’s unique needs and lifestyle.
To do this the company partners with some of the best local designers and tradespeople and as members of the Master Builders Association and Property Council of New Zealand customers can have the confidence their home is being built to the correct standards.
Andrew credits the efforts of Yeoman Homes’ team and tradespeople as an essential component in the company’s capacity to deliver excellence in quality, dependability and design.
Yeoman Homes develops its own land and works in with other land developers to secure land in some of the best subdivisions and neighbourhoods in the Waikato Region. Andrew says that the Hamilton market is busy.
Once the Ridgedale subdivision is complete Yeoman Homes has homes to complete in Fifth Avenue, Ruakiwi Road, Ellicott Road, Forest Lake Road, Frankton and the CBD along with a 23-unit apartment building awaiting consents.
“Our aim is to ensure that Yeoman Homes continues to offer modern living environments of the highest quality that serve the everyday needs of Kiwis, both now and in the future.”
