BuildNZ is New Zealand’s largest pan-industry construction/build/architecture exhibition event—bar none.
Held over three days from Sunday the 23rd through to Tuesday 25th of June, the exhibition is staged at Auckland’s ASB Show grounds -the only venue capable of catering for an event of this magnitude.
Now in its 30th year, the show is owned and organised by XPO Exhibitions, blending two other complementary shows – Designex and the National Safety Show.
Brent Spillane, XPO Exhibition’s Managing Director, says the show has historically commenced on a Sunday, enabling a large proportion of the building trade to attend, benefiting from everything the show has on offer.

“They all come to collaborate and to see the latest technology, products and services that will assist them resource this huge pipeline of construction that lies ahead of us. “The show caters not just for residential construction but commercial as well.”

Showcasing a wide range of innovative products, visitors will learn about BIM (Building Information Modeling) that allows homeowners of the future to use smartphones to know exactly what their home’s building elements are from the type of wiring right through to the warranty on your dishwasher
.“It’s augmented reality so that you will be able to shine your phone on a wall and see exactly where the electrical components are before you drill into the wall. It will also assist the builder to ensure they’re using the right building product as specified by the architect.”
With an increasing need to find smarter and faster building methods, pre-fabricated modular homes and components built off site also features\d at BuildNZ.
“As well as being this place where you can collaborate with the entire industry and see the latest in new technology you can also learn,” explains Brent.
“All the trades and professions are regulated by on-going training requirements—certified professional development points. They can attend this event and within three days walk away with a huge amount of their annual training requirement.”
