Full steam ahead at Wanaka’s Northlake
Northlake is one of Wanaka’s premier residential developments.

Property developer Winton is setting the standard with its vision to be a world-class group creating master-planned communities that are best by design. Its Northlake development in Wanaka, one of eleven high-quality projects currently in progress throughout New Zealand, is no exception.
Northlake is one of Wanaka’s premier residential developments, well located close to the town centre, schools, Lake Wanaka, the Clutha River, and all the recreational opportunities that they bring.
Chief executive Chris Meehan says high demand for Northlake properties means that pre-sales continue to drive ongoing construction across the site, and this focus on delivery means there is always a new stage on the go, with new homes and residents close behind.
Stage 10 is mostly pre-sold with titles due early this year while all stage 12 sections have been pre-sold, with construction underway.“It has been another busy year for our team on-site and behind the scenes.
It is fair to say the pace at which Northlake is progressing is probably faster than many other local developments,” Chris says. For those who choose to live at Northlake, Winton provides a range of purchase options, including sections of varying sizes, contemporary low maintenance terrace homes, or the opportunity of bespoke designs to meet individual needs.
“Our intention is to provide a range of products, including different house types and section sizes, that appeal to different buyer needs, as diversity is such a key part of the community.
“The terrace houses are our newest product and are designed to cleverly utilise space, so although they are compact, they feel quite spacious. The feedback from those who have already been through the show suite is very positive.”
“Stage 15 lots are currently under construction and will be progressively titled from the middle of 2020. We are excited to build a new display home village within this stage, and we look forward to introducing this range of homes to the market.”
Included in the master development is the North-lake Village Centre which provides residents, and the wider community, with valuable facilities within walking distance of home.
These include Monkey Farm Bar & Eatery, Pinnacles early childcare facility, and a commercial centre with modern office and retail spaces, which provides the alluring opportunity to live and work at Northlake.
Resource consent has also been granted for a hotel which will be an 18 to 24-month build project. The three-level hotel will include 113 guest rooms, a restaurant and bar and fitness centre.
One of the most exciting elements of our current work schedule is the new recreation reserve we working on, Chris says. “It is like no other in the district, and is sure to be the centrepiece of the community.”The nearly 12,000 square metre recreation re-serve will be located a block away from the village centre along Northlake Drive.
As well as being one of Wanaka’s largest open community spaces, one of the biggest attractions is sure to be Wanaka’s first asphalt pump track. Everyone can have fun using the loop track with their bikes, scooters and skateboards.
“The overall vision for the reserve was to create a generous green space for the community, children and adults, to enjoy as much as possible, and a plaza area within the reserve will be a flexible space to be enjoyed by many.”It features a covered pergola with seating and tables, shade planting and a basketball half-court.
Its multi-use astro tennis court will feature a rebound wall with line markings for other sports to enable maximum use within the community. The tennis court, along with the rest of the reserve, is planned to be open for use in autumn this year.
