Civil Contracting enterprise Tru-Line Civil has formed lasting industry relationships over many years of operation, leading to the award of a recent project with Townsend Fields and the construction of western Rangiora’s up and coming subdivision development.
The new road extension that was also built as part of the development of this private subdivision has now become an integral part of western Rangiora for commuters.
Townsend Fields presents a living space that enhances the outdoor experience with open countryside.
Surrounded by recreational reserves, water-ways, native planting, and recreational walkways and paths, this is a dynamic subdivision creatively designed and located at the end of Townsend Road in Rangiora.
Townsend Fields incorporates recreational walkways and paths, multi-level ponds, rock weir energy dissipaters, and the planting of more than 4000 native plants.
This project included the construction of two new roundabouts, one at the existing intersection of Johns Road and West Belt, and the other within the new subdivision.
850m of brand new roading has been constructed, three kilometres of drainage with various size pipe installation, footpaths, street lighting, landscaping and a large storm water management area.
“This new storm water management area was a highlight of the project and involved the use of GPS controlled machinery to create the clean lines of the stormwater ponds,” says Tru-Line Civil commercial manager Grant Johnston.
“This area will be used to treat stormwater discharge from the new road, the Townsend Fields subdivision, and surrounding land in the area, keeping the area clean and green.”
A key environmental aspect of the project was to ensure minimal disturbance to the natural amenity of the land.
Tru-Line Civil worked carefully to make certain the surrounding environment retained its natural beauty, and nearby waterways were kept clean in the works to realign the new spring-fed stream for the storm water management area.
Justin Busbridge of Townsend Fields says Tru-Line Civil executive director Daniel Powell and the Tru-Line Civil Team have worked closely with Townsend Fields to create a substantial infrastructure project in Rangiora to the satisfaction of the client, consultant team, and the local body.
“Tru-Line Civil has been engaged for the second major stage of the development, testimony to the strength of the relationship between the contractor and client,” he says.
Tru-Line Civil operates from locations in Canterbury and on the West Coast. As a company, Tru-Line Civil has accrued more than 100 years of experience in civil contracting over the range of civil works from road building, earthworks, bridge building and concrete structures, to cable laying, pressure reticulation systems, stormwater installations, and a wide array of associated works.
“Working to protect our shared environment is of fundamental importance to Tru-Line Civil, and we continue to work with our clients to protect and enhance our environment,” Grant says.
