Since 2005 proud Taranaki business partners Grant Scott and Hayley Baird have grown ShedBoss Taranaki into an award winning business. It’s been a journey Grant and Hayley are passionate about continuing to evolve.
“We saw an opportunity to enter into a license with ShedBoss. We were really taken by the quality of the brand and the promises it delivered,” says Grant.
“It provided an ideal business model in that we operate completely independently, rather than the more usual franchise relationships,” he says. ShedBoss Taranaki specialises in building steel sheds and buildings to any size required.
It means that the company can build exactly what is needed by the client and it’s a core reason Grant says why the business has achieved so well.
“We’ve been busy ever since we opened. We have worked hard to ensure we were adaptable through challenging economic times.” says Grant.
There are several key reasons he says why ShedBoss has grown from strength to strength. “We have built up an excellent team of skilled tradesman who take real pride in their work.
“We design and build bespoke structures, that’s our speciality, so there is an extensive amount of pre design discussion and planning that takes place months before the build gets underway.”
While there is an emphasis on design fl air and creating a striking commercial property, the building materials and systems applied also guarantee strength and security.
ShedBoss Taranaki have forged a market creating custom-designed residential and life-style garaging along with commercial building for their clients across diverse sectors.
Grant says that’s the key point of difference in what is a very competitive industry. “We tailor make every design from scratch so the client is guaranteed to get exactly the building they need for their unique purpose.”
One such build at Waiwhakaiho for Elite Kitchens is an impressive 1690qsm combination of manufacturing workshop and showroom. The workshop occupies 1290sqm of the total area with the administration/showroom facility the balance.
“As Elite is a high quality kitchen design company, it was important that the building looks not only welcoming and functional but reflects design qualities Elite Kitchens are proud of,” Grant says.
“There are a lot of complex regulations governing the construction of a facility such as this and this is where our strength in planning and working with Council, designers and engineers comes to the fore.”
While the company has grown in leaps and bounds Grant says that he has always maintained direct contact with all clients.
“There are three of us in total who undertake the project management, however I make sure I am also in direct contact with the clients throughout the build.”
When asked about where he sees the company placed in the future, Grant says both he and Hayley are adamant they don’t want it to get much larger. “It’s important for us that we retain quality working partnerships with our staff, clients and key subcontractors,” says Grant.
All turn-key work the company undertakes is by negotiated contract, something Grant says works well for both the business and the client.
Recently ShedBoss’s hard-work and attention to detail was rewarded with several awards by the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce.
“We had a fantastic result, picking up the Trade Excellence, Employer of Choice and Large Business awards, however the icing on the cake was in receiving the overall Supreme Award,” Grant says.
