On time, on budget, guaranteed
The design phase is the hardest part of the building process, according to Waikato builder Roger Ramsey

Roger Ramsey wants to be invited to your housewarming party. That’s why Roger Ramsey Building guarantees the ‘On Time. On Budget’ delivery of residential building and renovation projects. “The most important thing for me is my clients don’t have to go back to the bank to ask for more money,” Roger says.
“We’ve got a fixed price guarantee and we use realistic figures in our pricing. If there are no changes, there are no surprises. The hardest part of the building process should be in the design phase. Once building starts, it should be an enjoyable experience. That’s how we work.”
Roger has been building throughout the Waikato region for the past 34 years.
In recent years Roger Ramsey Building has specialised in renovations, having the required higher skill level of staff allowing the team to problem solve on a daily basis.
Having skilled staff has allowed Roger Ramsey Building to forge a reputation for completing whole projects from start to finish, retaining control of the quality produced from floor to ceiling. “We are all about quality, there’s no compromise on that,” Roger says.
“That’s how I built my reputation over more than 30 years.” Roger prefers to work with his clients from the start of their project so he can be involved in the design phase.
“We talk about what they want in their house, what their budget is, and whether their budget is realistic in terms of what they want to achieve,” he says.
“If the budget fi ts, I then take my clients through the design process. I engage an architect or designer, we have two or three we use regularly and match them to each client. I take the client through the preliminary costings, and if they’re happy we finalise the working drawings and get busy building.”
Roger offers the same service for new homes and renovation projects. “Not a lot of companies offer that full service for the renovation market so there is a need for that,” Roger says.
“We always ask whether our clients have any existing contractors they would like to use for their project, but lately our clients have preferred us to organise everything.
Everyone is in a hurry, they want their job done yesterday, so we do the whole shooting box.
That suits us, we’ve got our own core group of subbies and suppliers who go above and beyond to make sure everything happens in a timely manner.
Roger Ramsey Building is now working on stage one of the new Waitomo Adventure Centre, a large three storey commercial building and one of the first in the Waikato to be built from XLam cross laminated timber.
The building will house a health and beauty day spa in the first floor, a café and booking offices on the second level, and staff training facilities and office spaces on the top level.
