Quality renovations, accurate pricing
Renovation Works took out silver at the House of the Year awards for this renovation of an original 1960s home.

An increase in regulation coupled with an increase in the size of renovation projects led builder Wade Haldane to start Renovation Works.
“A major renovation is no longer a simple process. Each project is unique and has its own set of complexities. Renovating demands professionalism, careful management, skilled and responsible builders and involvement from the home owner,” explains Wade.
This is why Renovation Works focuses heavily on skilled project management and quality workmanship. Robust systems give the company expert control over each project.
“My focus is on controlling the three anchor points of any project – scope, budget and time – and involving our clients as decision makers is a key part of this,” explains Wade.
“It’s about setting realistic expectations from the beginning then managing these to completion.”
He says the company’s experience means that Renovation Works can give a very accurate idea of the cost of a project right from the early concept stage.
“We have updated daily costings on every project we undertake so this means we have a good idea of what each facet of a project will cost when a client comes to us with their plan or ideas. This allows for very accurate pricing and gives clients the confidence to move into the full design and working drawings phase.”
Renovation Works typically focuses on high end projects in Auckland for busy clients such as the project that recently won silver in the Registered Master Builder House of the Year competition in the renovations over $1m category.
Renovation Works basically started with the bare bones of the structure from the original 1960s home and completed a full renovation as well as adding an additional storey to create an exceptional openplan living area. The result is a five-bedroom, three-bathroom dream home with beautiful clifftop views.
“We had only been members of Registered Master Builders for six months when we entered so we certainly didn’t expect to win. It’s a real validation of the quality we achieve on every build and the consistency of service we offer clients,” he says.
Wade started his building career in 1993 and ran a franchised house renovation company before starting Renovation Works in 2016.
He offers his clients over 25 plus years experience in building and project management having constructed hundreds of new homes and over 250 renovations.
Wade says that as property values continue to increase more homeowners are choosing to develop their own homes rather than sell and move into something more suitable.
This often includes a total remodel of the old home along with an extension or rebuild of some kind. The assurance of using a long standing and professional company such as Renovation Works is what homeowners need for large renovation projects.
As members of Registered Master Builders Renovation Works can offer a 10 year guarantee on all their work.
Renovation Works focuses on around half a dozen projects at a time and also builds new homes from clients’ own plans or working with their preferred architect, Buildology.

At present the company is working on a new home build in Dairy Flat, a $500,000 project in Meadowbank and is building a garage for a client in Mahurangi West to live in while their home is demolished and a new one built in Parnell.
