Vulcan – the best of inner city living

Vulcan - the best of inner city living
The luxury Vulcan apartments development has 38 freehold apartments in two 10-storey towers.

The new Vulcan apartment development in Auckland represents a continuation of the regeneration of Auckland City, says Harry Lewis, development manager for Plutus Holdings Limited.
“It’s like Auckland’s version of NYC. You’re right in the heart of the city with restaurants, entertainment and shopping all around you yet you’re directly across the road from a fantastic open park,” he says.
The luxury development of 38 freehold apartments in two 10-storey towers is located in Victoria Quarter right across from Victoria Park.
The project is named after the Roman god of fi re, which references the site’s historic use as a metal foundry. Harry says that The Vulcan has been designed to stand apart.
The building by Leuschke Group Architects has been designed with the site’s previous use in mind with a solid concrete exterior with bespoke glazing, an experimentation in reflectivity.
Bronze detailing is used throughout the building and the clean lineal structure of The Vulcan is broken by a bold bronze frame, creating a building with elegant height and eye-catching form.
The apartments sit upon a commercial podium, grounding the building to the streetfront, while upper floors open out to emphasise the views of the city and the harbour, says Harry.
The interiors will also stand out from the crowd, he says, and be an edgy mix of rawness and luxury made up of exposed concrete walls, marble and granite bench tops, top of the range kitchen appliances and ECC lighting throughout.
There are options of one-bedroom, one-bathroom and two-bedroom, two-bathroom layouts.
Residences have generous indoor and outdoor living areas, and have either park or city views. The Parkview Tower contains 16 spacious twobedroom apartments with generous terraces. The tower faces west and has views across to Victoria Park, the Harbour Bridge and the Waitemata Harbour beyond.
The Cityview Tower contains 22 one- and two- bedroom apartments with some facing both east and west to provide for great views. Harry says the location of The Vulcan is hard to beat – a 10-minute walk to Ponsonby and Westhaven Marina.
“The Vulcan is close to every amenity people need to make living in the city easy: a supermarket, shopping, cafes, parks, playgrounds, art galleries, banks, universities, a library and New Zealand’s biggest gym, Les Mills.
“When people feel like eating out, they have everything from foodtrucks and foodcourts to Auckland’s best fine dining all on their doorstep,” he says.
Only a handful of units are still available and Harry says that they have been popular with a variety of purchasers from first home buyers through to empty nesters looking to downsize.
The Vulcan is being marketed through Bayleys. With ground works consisting of piling, capping beam/bracing and bulk excavation complete everything on schedule the project completion is set for October 2019.
“The market reception has been better than what we could ever have hoped for. “Purchasers have been drawn to the location and the boutique high end, edgy feel of the development. “It’s going to be a real landmark building in Auckland City.”
