The new show home design is a contemporary take on a traditional brick home, featuring a modern kitchen with walk-in pantry, a separate second living space and large master suite with walk-through wardrobe and ensuite.

Platinum Homes Manukau Counties has just opened a new show home in The Rise subdivision. Franchise sales manager, Murray Taylor, describes the design as a contemporary take on a traditional brick home.
Clad in white concrete brick with gable roof details and skylights, the medium-sized family home offers a 203 square metre floorplan centred around a large open plan kitchen/living area. An overheight stud gives a feeling of spaciousness.
The show home features a modern kitchen with walk-in pantry, a separate second living space and large master suite with walk-through wardrobe and ensuite.
Located on the outskirts of Papakura, just off the Papakura-Clevedon Road, The Rise consists of 153 sections of mixed size.
Platinum Homes Manukau Counties is offering a selection of three to four bedroom house and land packages on sections ranging in size from approximately 500-650sqm.
Packages start from $895,000. Murray says The Rise offers elevated views and is a high quality subdivision, typical of developer Cabra. Combined with covenants to ensure a high quality development to protect people’s investment The Rise is sure to be popular, he says.
Quality is a huge focus for the franchise. In fact it was a love of building quality homes at an affordable price that led franchise owner David Watt to start Platinum Homes Manukau Counties.
He was about to retire when he decided to help a friend build a house and enjoyed the process so much he ended up being one of a group that instigated the beginning of Platinum Homes in New Zealand. David started the Platinum Homes Manukau Counties franchise in 2003.
The franchise, which covers Manukau, Franklin and Papakura, has since come to offer all customers a range of options to suit their budget while specialising in building large homes on rural or beach sections.
“At Platinum Homes we aim to build solid homes that stand the test of time using high-quality products that are well proven in the market,” explains Murray.
“This focus on quality flows through every aspect of the business including our systems and processes, which have been designed to back up a quality build process.
“For example all homes built by Platinum Homes are covered by a ten year independent Homefi rst Builders Guarantee issued by Builtin New Zealand Ltd and backed by Lloyds of London. In addition, all our homes are insured by a Construction Works Policy underwritten by NZI during the period of construction.”
Murray says that the company’s processes ensure that building a home is as stress free an undertaking as possible.
He says that it is no surprise that repeat business is big for the franchise where it is not unusual for people to start out building their first home from the economic Platinum Homes Alpha series before moving on to one of the more upmarket ranges the company offers or even a full design and build home.
Murray says that one of the key’s to its successful builds is that Platinum Homes Manukau Counties spends a lot of time with clients working out every detail first to ensure the client gets exactly what they want.
It also helps that Platinum Homes Manukau Counties is a real family run business resulting in a personal building experience.
David’s son Jonah is part of the marketing team and another son Sam is one of the company construction managers with Sam’s wife Laura working on orders.

David’s partner Dianne Lee helps with remedial works, which is a big focus for the company with a full-time staff member dedicated to this.
The franchise is busy building throughout the area, and while the mainstay of work is customers that have already purchased sites, the franchise also offers a selection of hand picked house and land packages, in developments such as The Rise, Pokeno Village Estate and McLennan Park.
For those that want to see the quality builds the company produces, apart from the new show home in The Rise, Platinum Homes Manukau Counties offers a second show home in Pukekohe at 6 Twomey Drive, Newsham Park.
This home showcases the company’s ability to build large homes perfect for rural locations. Based on the Downton plan, the 327sqm Pukekohe show home boasts five bedrooms, three living areas, three bathrooms and a double garage.
“We understand that when people build a new home they are undertaking the biggest investment of their lives,” says Murray.
“That’s why they need to work with a builder they can trust. “Because over 2,200 Kiwi families have built a Platinum Homes we have a proven track record of delivering great homes for New Zealanders.”
