Having the right experienced team to do the job is the key when it comes to building and particularly insurance reinstatement projects, says Roger Hollywell, whose Wellington based company Paradise Building Limited specialises in this kind of work.
“Who you team yourself up with is what makes the difference and we employ and work with the best. For example we have over 40 years experience in our carpentry team alone. When it comes to building, experience is what makes the difference between a job done, and a job done well,” he says.
Roger, who is a Licensed Building Practitioner, started Paradise Building in 2005 and offers over 15 years experience including experience working in London and Ireland on large and small commercial and residential construction sites.

The company builds new homes but it is insurance work along with additions and alteration to homes for the public that forms the mainstay of business.
Paradise Building is a preferred builder for most of the large insurance companies reflecting the trust placed in the workmanship.
Projects can be challenging and this is once again where specific past experience counts, particularly with insurance reinstatements, says Roger.
“For example one property I was asked to visit I couldn’t tell if the house was single or double storey – it was that badly damaged from a fire.
The whole management process is where Paradise Building excels, liaising with the homeowner and insurance company.
We give input into the scoping process as to the best and most economical solution,” he says. It is expertise the insurance company appreciates Roger says.
One particular job he was asked to work on that he was unable to take on due to workload and was subsequently given to another builder ran into all the problems Roger had predicted from the outset.
Paradise Building stepped in to complete the job and resolve the issues to result in a successful outcome. “Problem solving with speed and efficiency is our point of difference,” says Roger.
“Our mission statement – ‘total commitment to service and workmanship’ – is a reflection of how we approach any project, be it large or small.
“We offer a service-orientated approach often lacking in other building companies.   “Our aim is to meet the highest standards of workmanship and leave each client completely satisfied.”
This is backed by a talented group of specially selected trades that Paradise Building regularly works with such as James Cook Joinery and Adam Tulloch Electrical just to mention a few.
Roger says the value he places on their expertise is difficult to measure and that’s why he sticks with trades such as these that have longevity in the industry and high levels of skill.
Paradise Building is a platinum member of New Zealand Certified Builders meaning that it adheres to quality business practices so people know that their project is in good hands.
It also means clients benefit from the NZCB guarantees on their project. Paradise Building is also a member of Site Safe and Hazardco reflecting the emphasis placed on health and safety.
Paradise Building employs four carpenters, two decorators, an office administrator and a number or casuals. Roger is committed to training apprentices and believes in giving back to an industry he is passionate about.
