NZ Dairy – Autumn 2021

Inside NZ Dairy

A chance conversation in a Levin supermarket got Matt Bolton interested in goats.. Today he runs one of the biggest dairy goat herds in the country, making quality products from goat milk.

In a similar vein, Art and Jill Eastham transformed a Wairarapa sheep and beef farm into a thriving sheep dairy operation. The couple believe the time is right for New Zealand to embrace the possibilities.

The early pioneers had it tough. Edward Allison drew 694 acres in the Mangawhero Land Ballot in 1907 and decided to clear some of the scrub that carpeted the land by lighting a fire … then things got a little out of hand.
