Murchison Homes’ new ‘Senior Living Units’ will offer convenience with a country flavour to their residents.

Superbly located a short walk to Amberley’s main shopping centre, Murchison Homes’ new ‘Senior Living Units’ will offer convenience with a country flavour to their residents. With plans already available for viewing, eight new units will be built on separate sections on Stage Six of Amberley’s ever-popular Oakfields subdivision.
Nestled at the end of a quiet culde-sac and down a right of way overlooking a reserve, the homes offer close proximity to all the important amenities.“When people see the location they will go ‘wow’ because there won’t be this opportunity to build new so close again,” says Murchison Homes’ managing director Marty Murchison.
“The homes will all be within five minutes easy walk to Amberley’s main shopping centre which has a major supermarket, restaurants and cafes, and a three-minute walk to the Amberley Medical Centre.”
Designed with senior living and country style in mind, the two and three bedroom homes are based on a traditional style and clad in a larger profile brick to capture the essence of provincial appeal.
Ranging from 132sqm to 155sqm, with single and double garage options, each home differs in its design and the colour of cladding providing a sense of character and individuality.
“All homes have open plan living. We’re creating really large kitchen spaces, some with walk in pantry options. The kitchen has been placed on the east side with the dining and living area in the heart of the home facing north-west to capture the warmth of sun. We’ve also upgraded the insulation to enhance the homes’ warmth and placed a heat pump in the main living areas as well as the hallway near the bedrooms.”
Built with the future in mind, the homes’ framing will include provision for the later addition of hand-rails in the bathroom and be ‘wheelchair friendly’.
Construction will commence in August and be completed in time for a Christmas 2020 handover. Off the plans the price points range from $429,000 to $473,000 including land.
Appointed with vinyl plank flooring, soft-close draws and Formica benchtops, clients buying off the plans can choose to upgrade a wide range of features to suit their preferences and budgets.“We’re catering to people’s individual needs and preferences so they can maximise what they want out of their home,” explains Marty.
“ We pride ourselves on colour consultation, materials selection and interior design and spend a day with the client going through all the options, making sure they’re happy. We make it a very simple process and it’s usually one of the most enjoyable and fun experiences.”
Based in Amberley, Murchison Homes specialises in residential new builds around the Waimakariri and southern end of the Hurunui district.Marty says many of the people his company builds new homes for are from out of the district and have chosen to make North Canterbury their home.
“It’s wonderful helping bring people into the area because you’re not just building them a home but helping to incorporate them in the community and you become part of their family. That’s my role, to get to know the clients throughout the build.”
