Luxury Living Ltd has been proudly helping to shape East Auckland for decades. The company has built some iconic homes in the area such as the distinctive home built into the cliff face, with a clock on top between Kohimarama and St Heliers.
Company owner Chris Foley, who offers his clients nearly 40 years building experience, says that it is a focus on quality and attention to detail that has set Luxury Living Ltd apart so that all the company’s work is by referral.
“We can really handle any residential project due to the experience of our team,” he says. “Both small and large jobs – from a letterbox to a brand new multi-million dollar home. We do it all.”
This attitude has seen the company in demand, so much so that Luxury Living Builders has been busy building in a small area of Auckland, largely Glendowie.
Luxury Living Ltd has had requests for their services from architects, building inspection company owners and engineers indicating the high levels of skill Chris and his team offer.
“We are a very tight knit team and focus on one large build or two smaller projects at a time. I have a very stable workforce with some builders having worked for me for over a decade. “Likewise our subcontractors are hand picked for their quality and workmanship,” he says.

It is an extremely personal service with Chris dealing with clients direct. He says it is an honest open book policy, which his clients appreciate.
People can come with their own plans or Chris can put them in touch with the right architect to match their project and budget.
One distinctive project the company completed was Australasia’s first Passive House. The 228sqm home in Glendowie won the overall house award at the 2015 South Pacific Passive House Awards and the single family home category at the 2014 International Passive House Awards.
Established in Germany in the eighties Passive House is a standard designed to reduce the ecological footprint of a building by focusing on low energy consumption.

Chris says he worked with Darren Jessop, who designed the home, offering ideas and solutions from a build perspective. One solution involved creating a skeleton within the home using a GIB Rondo metal batten system.
This allowed the GIB to be held off the framing, creating a cavity for services while still allowing for insulation of the framing, and also prevented thermal transfer.
Demonstrating the company’s huge versatility Luxury Living Ltd has just completed an alteration of a home in St Heliers for H Architecture.
The inside of the home was refurbished, walls moved etc and then a small addition put on the home at the rear. At present the company is working on the build of a large new three level home in Glendowie.
“The moment we’ve finished one project,” says Chris, “that client has recommended us to someone else so we know they must be happy with what we’re doing.”
