New Parnell building raises the benchmark

Developer LEP Group is working on an iconic building for Parnell located at 2 Churton Street. Set over six levels with two levels of basement car parking, Edition is a luxury apartment development comprising just 19 homes.
To give some idea of the high end nature of the project one apartment has sold for over $9m.
Designed by Monk Mackenzie with interiors by Bureaux, Edition stands out from the crowd, says LEP development manager Rory O’Connor.
“The target market is empty nesters that still desire luxury living and a large spacious home. They are lock up and leave, low maintenance homes,” he says.
In creating Edition, Rory says that architectural studio Monk Mackenzie imagined a bold, contemporary building that confidently occupies the sloping site.
The upper three levels are cantilevered above the ground, creating a beautiful profile with a sophisticated shape that enables view shafts from the street through to the harbour beyond.
A stand out feature is the glass wall facade on the south side of the building.
The Italian bricks are lined with silver, which, when lit up at night, provide a stunning design feature, says Rory.
Inside Edition is home to contemporary, thoughtful spaces created with flexibility in mind. The entry foyer greets residents with a reflection pond.
The homes range in size from around 81-340sqm and are a range of one, two and three bedroom options.

Rory says that each living space has been designed to optimise sunlight year-round.
Floor-to-ceiling windows emphasise the high stud and allow plenty of natural light to enter.
Luxury features include custom designed kitchens, fumed oak cabinetry, Italian tap ware, stone tiling and marble bench tops.
Ground floor apartments include their own private garden while apartments on upper levels have a private loggia with sliding doors leaving the option for the space to be open or enclosed.
LEP Group is a New Zealand owned and operated company that was started in 2012 by experienced developers Mark Finlay and Russell Thompson.
Edition is being constructed by LEP Construction, another arm of the group.

Rory says that by operating its own construction company LEP has good control over timing, pricing and quality of projects.Other projects currently under construction by LEP Group include a medical centre and childcare centre in Silverdale on Auckland’s North Shore and an office refurbishment in Newmarket.
While LEP Group has previously focused on com-mercial including office, medical centres, service stations and retail, Edition is LEP Group’s first residential development.
Rory says LEP Group had been seeking a suitable site for a development in Parnell for years before this one came on the market and that Edition reflects the Group’s focus on building high quality projects that stand the test of time in both design and construction.
“It’s a great area with a number of restaurants and bars opening up. It’s close to public transport and the city yet still offers a suburban lifestyle with parks all around. In Parnell everything is right on your doorstep.”
