Awards keep rolling in for building firm
Established in 1981, Kuriger Builders is committed to building homes of both quality and distinction.

A home built at Whitianga on the waterway has won Kuriger Builders yet another award at the Registered Master Builder House of the Year competition adding to the company’s stash of nearly 70 awards won over the years.
The three bedroom 212sqm home was designed by company owner Conrad Kuriger and has an intriguing mix of styles – a 1920’s cottage theme for the frontage facing the water and on the road side a contemporary design with a monopitch roof.
The home, which won bronze in the new homes $750,000-$1m section for the Bay of Plenty/Central Plateau region, is a good example of the company’s desire to build a client’s dream home.
“In all the years I’ve been in business I’ve never built the same house twice. All our projects are very client specific. We tailor each design to the client and the property. We work alongside our clients – a team approach.
“It’s about understanding them and their needs. It’s about finding out what you can about their personality and lifestyle and what they want to achieve.”
Conrad works with clients throughout the whole process from material selection and advice on design ideas.
This means clients can utilise and have access to the full benefit of Conrad’s knowledge and experience developing a trusting working relationship.
Kuriger Builders has a five-point checklist to assist clients in the vital planning stage relating to family, lifestyle, business or career, finance and quality in order to help clients to design their ideal home.
“Dedication to meeting their expectations precisely begins at this initial contact. Formal plans, prices, reviews and additions (including their time-frame and budget) are worked through with each client to ensure their project is managed to their complete satisfaction,” explains Conrad.
For example a special feature of the Coromandel award winning home is an internal courtyard connected to the master bedroom and kitchen/living/dining area as the client desired indoor-outdoor living.
Louvres and sliding glass doors allow the area to be opened up depending on the weather to a large outdoor kwila deck.
Inside, Kuriger Builders’ attention to detail is apparent in every aspect of the home, from meticulously matching large 900mm tiles to obtain a perfect grid pattern to tongue and groove raking ceilings where full timber lengths are used with no joins.
Kuriger Builders also won bronze in the renovations $500,000-$1m section for a five level home in Tauranga.
Based in Tauranga Kuriger Builders offers clients a showroom to enable people to see samples such as kitchen, balustrading and tiling.
A full size slideshow of past projects is projected onto a wall so people can almost feel as if they are inside the home, says Conrad.
The company employs around eight staff and Conrad says the skills of the entire team are important to it’s success in delivering top quality homes.
“Winning awards consistently is a great way to benchmark ourselves and also for clients to see the high quality we achieve on every project.”
