Comprehensive renovation service tailored to suit
Jo Heaslip: “My service is unique because I come to clients and determine their personal needs.”

Jo Heaslip of boutique kitchen, bathroom, and renovations company Kitchens Unlimited provides a custom design service which brings ideas to life and takes away the unknown, with innovative design concepts and a full or partial project management service.
Kitchens Unlimited started out focusing on kitchens and has developed into a full renovation business, dealing with bathrooms, offices, wardrobes, laundries, decks, and full home makeovers. Jo says the service at Kitchens Unlimited is different to other services on the market.
“My service is unique because I come to clients and determine their personal needs. I spend many hours designing and putting together all aspects of a renovation from floor to rooftop and everything in between. Most importantly, focusing on the lifestyle and the needs of my clients.”
Jo says it takes a team of five to seven trades-people to put a new kitchen or renovation together, and this can sometimes blow out to 14 or 15 different tradespeople.
Once a design is approved, Jo goes on to quoting every single product, material, and service required in the project. The selected tradesmen and client receive a schedule of works so everybody knows what is happening and when. “I’ve got an amazing team of people I use who are all small business owners who care about what they do,” she says.
“We use as many Taupo companies as we can to keep income in town.”If they are staying in their home, Jo helps her clients to prepare for living with a renovation. She then meets every trade on site and project man-ages from start to finish.
Week one of a renovation starts with the demolition of the existing kitchen, bathroom, or other renovation space. Hollows Electrical and Sinclair Plumbing and Gas are both called in to cut off the electrics and plumbing.
Kitchens Unlimited’s exclusive joiner Custom Design Furniture measures up the site, and Home Build Taupo comes in to complete all building requirements, to building code.In the same week, Hollows Electrical and Sinclair Plumbing and Gas come back to prewire and preplumb the project.
Home Build Taupo returns to complete all linings ready for Vows Decorating to complete plastering, and Marshall Painting Services to complete painting.
In the second week, the kitchen, apart from benchtops, is installed by Custom Design Furniture.Weeks three and four see flooring installed by Flooring First, then the benchtop is templated and manufactured by Made in Stone. In week five, it is installed.
Week six sees tiling completed by Flexi Hands Tiling, Hollows Electrical and Sinclair Plumbing and Gas fitting off new electrics and plumbing, and Custom Design Furniture completing the installation of any benchtop units.
Products and materials are provided by Zip Plumbing, Kitchen Things Hamilton, Dezinatec, Fit, Archent, and more.“Project managing is a time consuming and stressful process,” Jo says. “Why would you try to tackle it yourself?”
