Firm willing to ‘push the boundaries’
Kane Build Group undertakes new homes, major renovations and light commercial and reclad projects.

A modest site of around 100 square metres may not seem the obvious place to build a three storey home. But that’s exactly what Kane Build Group are achieving for an Auckland based client on a site in Parnell.
Designed by BSW Architects, the home has a floorplate of 180 square metres spread over three levels. Made from structural steel and concrete it is a semi-commercial construction, says Kane Build Group owner Anthony Kane.
The ground floor will consist of a garage, bedroom/karaoke room, laundry and main entry.
The next level up will be the master bedroom with ensuite, opening out to a deck, and another bedroom. The top floor will be the kitchen/living/dining area complete with gas fireplace and deck. The home will include an elaborate oak staircase and lift.
Anthony says the main challenge has been the size of the site and access. For this reason in-situ concrete construction was the methodology selected as a crane could not access the site.
Everything will be formed and poured on site with tray deck concrete mid-floors. Power lines will have to be buried in the ground to accommodate the height of the building.
Kane Build Group project manager Jason Williamson says that the project has necessitated a precise programme with strict management of materials delivered to site as needed due to lack of storage space.
“This project really shows that the Kane team can achieve anything, no matter how challenging,” says Anthony. “We are willing to push the boundaries in build and architectural terms.”
Based on the North Shore, Kane Build Group was started by Anthony and wife Anna around eight years ago.
Anthony comes from a family with history in real estate, which has led to a passion for architectural excellence and finely-crafted construction.
He has a New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry and is a Licensed Building Practitioner and Registered Master Builder offering his clients over 15 years building experience.

This architectural home built by Kane Build Group is set on a steep site with uninterrupted views of the Auckland Harbour and City.

Anna, a chartered accountant, is in charge of the accounting, financial controlling, reporting and administration functions of the business.
Kane Build Group undertakes new homes, major renovations, light commercial and reclad projects.
The company also works on subdivision projects for client s, from bare land to subdivision and final build completed. Anthony says it is an honest, nononsense approach that his clients appreciate.
At present Kane Build Group is working on a number of projects around Auckland including nine new units in Birkdale, two renovations in Takapuna and subdivision projects in Glenfield. The company employs a team of around ten plus subcontractors as required.
Anthony says having a dedicated team of hand picked subbies means that even in Auckland’s busy construction market he has a team he can rely on to get the job done to the high standards which Kane Build Group has become known for.
“We love to explore the design process with each client, to ensure their vision is fully expressed in the design and build. At Kane Build Group we don’t do run of the mill.”
