Development of the proposed Aquasports Park in the heart of North Canterbury’s revitalised township of Kaiapoi will be a tourism game changer for the Waimakariri and Canterbury areas. Working closely with Enterprise North Canterbury and the Waimakariri District Council, project management and quantity surveying specialists Joseph & Associates Ltd has been at the forefront of the project from inception.“At this stage our role is helping to manage the high-level feasibility analysis,” says Project Director Tony Joseph.
“We were initially involved in the formation of the WHoW Charitable Trust and have been involved in the project for a number of years now, working closely with the community.”
Tony sees a wide range of benefits resulting from the Aquasports Park, not just at a local level but for Waimakariri and the wider Canterbury area.“As well as prudent use of land in the heart of Kaiapoi, water guardianship is a major part of the concept.
“There are benefits in terms of water usage with environmental advantages in terms of creating water retention options in the event of flooding in the area. Water safety education, dynamic water education and active aquatic recreation offer community benefits to all of Canterbury.”
An exciting anchor attraction to Kaiapoi, after enjoying time at the Aquasports Park, visitors to the area may also take the opportunity to explore the wider Waimakariri area increasing the region’s tourist reach.Based in Christchurch, Joseph & Associates’ evolution commenced 35 years ago when John Joseph commenced his quantity surveying practice.
