JB Building Ltd was set up by Josh Birch when the lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic gave him time to do the paperwork after years of working as a contractor for other builders. Knowing that people were stuck at home, some with unspent money in their pockets, he had a feeling there could be plenty of renovation work coming up and wanted to make the most of being released and able to work at Level 3.

As one job followed another, the jobs got steadily bigger, and the Wellington-based family-run team soon built a reputation for delivering what they promised, on time and on budget. With years of experience behind them, the team at JB Building puts their expertise to work with the attention to detail that goes hand in hand with the meticulous finishing they believe every job deserves, big or small.

JB Building builds a wide range of homes from small single-level homes through to large multi-level homes. JB Building’s experience in project management extends beyond residential into light commercial projects such as adapting the historic art-deco building in Cuba Street to house the sophisticated restaurant Kisa and create a dining experience as memorable as the food.

On that project, as with the many complex residential new builds and renovations they have been involved with, JB Building works closely with architects and consultants to deal with issues as they arise, bringing their building expertise to the table to ensure the resulting building will meet everyone’s expectations. “With our experience, we helped Pou Architecture to achieve the result the clients wanted on the Lakehouse renovation by offering sound advice and cost-saving approaches,” says Josh.
