Three brothers – three building sites

Three brothers - three building sites
James Bros Construction works on projects Auckland-wide.

Three brothers each managing three building sites is how James Bros Construction sets itself apart, says Willie James who owns the company with brother Brady with other brother Simon employed as a site manager.
“We find it important that we are directly working on each building site for our clients as it means our clients really get our expertise on their project,” he explains. “If they have any questions it is us they deal with.” And the brothers offer a great deal of experience.
Brady started his apprenticeship 24 years ago in Rotorua and since then has worked in London, Melbourne, Whitianga and Auckland on a diverse range of residential and commercial building projects.
Willie started building in 2002 and has extensive experience working on a range of projects in London, Auckland and the Coromandel including residential and commercial new builds, renovations, decks, fences and landscaping work.
Based on Auckland’s North Shore they started James Bros in 2015 and work Auckland wide. Clients can either come to the company with their own plans or the brothers can assist them through associations with local architects and designers.
James Bros employs a trusted team of contractors who share the brothers’ passion for high levels of professionalism, integrity and excellent results.
Willie says that by dedicating themselves to just a few projects at a time and having one brother overseeing each job they can maintain very high levels of quality and control as well as finishing speedily.
Another key point of difference is their open book policy when it comes to costings and clients are welcome to see any invoice at anytime throughout the build.
Willie says this builds trust and also means the client can keep a good handle on their own budget.
Accurate estimates at the outset also assist this process. Willie says the aim is to actually come in under budget if possible, something they often achieve.
Good communication is another hallmark of James Bros and Willie says that they aim to keep in very good contact with their client as the project progresses, regularly updating them every step of the way and answering any questions they might have.
“Our focus is on building an excellent rapport with clients, keeping them informed throughout the building project and ensuring the end result is exactly what the clients want,” he says.
At present James Bros is working on Willie’s own home on Waiheke Island.
Designed by Metropolitan Architecture Studio, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is set over five levels.
Clad in cedar and ply and batten, the home has some points of difference such as exposed trusses and a front door and garage flush with the cedar cladding to give a seamless appearance.
James Bros is also working on another project designed by Metropolitan Architecture Studio in Point Chevalier. The two-storey weatherboard house will offer three bedrooms.
The company is about to start work on a new three-storey home in Cockle Bay with four bedrooms and also a games room downstairs. James Bros is a member of New Zealand Certified Builders and as such can offer the association’s Halo guarantee on new homes.
The company is also a member of Hazardco. “We offer a small team and the result is a really personal building experience our clients love.”
