First time entrants to the Registered Master B uilder House of the Year competition, Harrison Builders, has taken out a Gold Award and been put forward as a Gold Reserve National Finalist with judging due to take place later this year.
Company owner Lachlan Harrison says that the win was great recognition for the team and the hard work they put into every project.
“For a small company to win gold, it was pretty good,” he says with a grin. Lachlan, a Licensed Building Practitioner, started Harrison Builders in 2012. He had already clocked up many years building in Australia and the UK.
Based in Auckland, Harrison Builders focuses on high end residential projects, mainly new builds but also renovations. The company works Auckland wide but Lachlan finds that demand on the North Shore, where he is based, typically keeps Harrison Builders busy.
Lachlan says he likes the craftsmanship required and the technical challenges that arise on high end builds and the satisfaction of working on distinctive projects to produce a successful end result. “If the clients aren’t happy with their home we haven’t done our job.”
Clients can come with their own plans or Lachlan can team them up with the right architect for their project, offering a complete service from start to finish. The customer is always at the heart of the build process. “At Harrison Builders wecare about delivering what our customers want.
“We make sure we go out of our way to make sure our clients needs are metand include them at every step of the way,” says Lachlan.
The house that won the gold award is located at Whangaparoa and was designed by Masonry Design Solutions (MDS). The home combinesrelaxed Balinese styling with Kiwi building practices and materials.
Comprising three bedrooms, two bathrooms and open plan living spread over 325 square metres artisan touches make the home stand out such as oaks fl oors and a bronze mirror splash back in the kitchen. Lots of glass makes the most of the views and a swimming pool provides a luxurious touch.
Lachlan says the project really showcases the talents of his team with high levels of craftsmanship. He says the win has given a boost to the team and is testament to the quality of finish achieved.
Harrison Builders typically focuses on one large project at a time because Lachlan says this is one way he achieve such high levels of quality.
At present Harrison Builders is working on a new Cape Cod style home in Greenhithe. It includes four bedrooms and is clad in cedar.
Harrison Builders is also working on a spec build at Murray’s Bay. Also a Cape Cod style design by Masonry Design Solutions, the 350 square metre home includes four bedrooms, two bathrooms, open plan living and internal access double garage. The home is for sale and will be completed by end of 2019.
Lachlan is assisted in the business by his wife Michelle who takes on the administration role.
Lachlan plans to enter the House of the Year competition in future to encourage his team to continue to strive for ever better levels of excellence. “At Harrison Builders the aim is to help all of our customers dreams for their perfect home be met.
“We want to help every customer build their vision and we do this with the best craftsmen and materials. Quality is always paramount.”
