Heritage Homes has arrived in the Bay of Plenty and is already fielding plenty of enquiries, says area manager Tony Emerson who runs Emerson Building.
Heritage Homes offers period style bungalows, villas and cottages combined with sustainability and technology from the modern building standards.
The company was originally founded by Keith Mitchell, who was a third generation master craftsman builder and had a passion for buildings of yesteryear, in particularly old English style homes.
Inspired by Keith’s ideas, his son John, also a Master Builder, has gathered a team together to push Heritage Homes into the future.
Tony was involved with Heritage Homes from its inception and built the first home in Northland where he was based at the time.
He eventually completed three homes, including a show home, in Northland before relocating to the Bay of Plenty to operate the franchise there.
Tony is presently planning the first Heritage Homes build for the Bay of Plenty region, a house and land package based on the Heritage Homes Newmarket design with garage. The design influence is a 1900 – 1930 villa with a full front verandah complete with lattice and fretwork.
Tony is also open to the possibility of teaming up with an investor to turn the build into a showhome.
Heritage Homes are timber framed houses using tried and true traditional craftsmanship combined with modern comforts such as high levels of insulation.
Ornate finishings and trims and high ceilings give the homes a unique historical look. “These are definitely not cookie cutter style houses,” says Tony.
“Our aim is to offer a point of difference with buildings that have timeless elegance and a classic style that will not date. People are excited by Heritage Homes because the homes are so different and enduring.”
Although Heritage Homes has a range of plans, including garages and cabins, Tony says these are rarely built as-is and the in-house design team can accommodate customers’ individual preferences and requirements so their home is uniquely theirs.
Homes come with a comprehensive New Zealand Certified Builders Association HALO Guarantee.
Emerson Building of course also builds all types of contemporary style houses as well. Tony has built a home, which won the Master Builders House of the Year award for homes between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000 in 2013, indicating the high levels of quality the company achieves.
He is a Licensed Building Practitioner and a New Zealand Certified Builder.
Tony is proud to offer an incredibly personal building experience and he personally works on every project, dedicating himself to one project at a time so he can oversee the development of his client’s home. At times his experience has saved his clients big money, he says.
“You’ve often heard the saying ‘do it once, do it right’. Well only with the great experience, proper planning and the practical foresight of a good builder can you achieve this. I have saved clients thousands of dollars by pointing out practical differences from their plans,” he says.
Emerson Building constructs homes at all price points and each one gets the same high levels of care and attention to detail. People can come with their own plans or Tony can point them to the right architect for their project.
He says the Bay of Plenty is booming and he is looking forward to undertaking the first Heritage Homes build in the region.
