Douglas Building Contractors builds elegant homes in new Redvale Estate

Every home built by Douglas Building Contractors is ensure to have an open plan design and a seamless outdoor-indoor flow.

New stages are now open within a new 62-section housing subdivision in the beautiful Tasman district near Nelson, offering large section sizes and panoramic views of the mountains and the sea.

Redvale Estate in the Redwood Valley is located off Maisey Road turning off SH 60, The Coastal Highway. It offers large lifestyle sections ranging from 4,800 square metres to 2.1 hectares – a perfect sun-drenched rural paradise to build your dream home, with plenty of space for the kids to play and plant a large vegetable garden or patch of fruit trees.

Nelson/Tasman home building company Douglas Building Contractors has already built and sold four homes within Redvale Estate, and its director Andrew Douglas says it’s an ideal place for one of their beautifully designed homes. “It’s a great spot in a lovely rural setting, but it’s only five minutes to Mapua and ten minutes to Richmond. The sections are large and flat, with some offering views of the valley whilst others look out over the estuary.”

“We offer a fixed price contract on a high-end home built to suit you and your lifestyle. From concept to completion, we’ll manage it all.”

Power and fibre are provided to the boundary, and water tanks for rainwater collection and septic tanks for wastewater are a part of each build. “Wood burners are permitted out here too,” says Andrew. “It’s a great place for families, and you can’t beat the Tasman region for its lifestyle. You’re close to national parks and beautiful beaches, great little townships and award-winning vineyards.”

Douglas Building Contractors was incorporated in 2008 and has built over 150 quality homes within Nelson and the Tasman district. “We offer a fixed price contract on a high-end home built to suit you and your lifestyle. We’ll take care of it all right from the get-go. From concept to completion, we’ll manage it all.”

Andrew’s wife Angela has a great eye for design so she will draw up initial concept plans before they are sent to their draftsman, Premier Services, for final conversion to building plans. “Every one of our house designs is customised for the client. You’re not going to have a home that’s like everybody else. From the design to the building consents and code of compliance to driveways and water tank installation – we’ll do it all – and all for an agreed fixed price which won’t have any surprise increases.”

“We’re not a franchise-building company. The people you meet are the same people who build every aspect of your home. This means you don’t get passed around from the sales team to the project manager and back to admin – you deal with us at every stage, and we keep you well-informed every step of the way,” says Andrew.

Douglas Building Contractors are Licensed Building Practitioners and New Zealand Certified Builders. They can offer the NZCB Halo 10-Year Residential Guarantee on every new build. They use local sub-contractors and suppliers and have their own in-house building team consisting of four qualified and experienced builders and two apprentices.

Sections are priced from $475,000, and titles are available on most new stage sections now. “We’ve got one being designed up at the moment for a client and hope to start building that in the next few months,” says Andrew. “It’s a four-bedroom home with a triple garage so plenty of room for the ride-on lawnmower and a good sized covered outdoor living space.”

Architectural styles well suited to the rural setting of Redvale Estate include the modern pavilion design says Andrew. “Large, elegant homes with open plan design and seamless outdoor-indoor flow. Expansive glass doors and windows in consideration of the local landscape, and open plan interiors for modern informal living.”
