DLM reaps rewards with focus on quality, design

The high quality and attention to detail Whitianga based DLM Construction achieves have been recognised in the fact the company is now an award winning Master Builder.
The company entered the House of the Year competition for the first time in 2017 and was pleasantly surprised to take out a gold award and be named the new homes up to $450,000 section winner in the Auckland regional competition. Company owners Megan and Darryl Williams say the awards were won on quality and design.
The 220sqm home, located at Whitianga Waterways, offers open-plan living, a separate formal lounge, high-spec kitchen and scullery.
It features natural materials including horizontal stained cedar shiplap cladding and oak flooring to fit in with the surrounding coastal environment, says Megan.
The home also boasts features sure to enhance the comfort of the homeowners including underfloor heating and a gas fireplace.
Positioned northeast, the living spaces enjoy sun and flow to an outdoor patio. DLM Construction predominantly works in Whitianga and Mercury Bay but will go further afield depending on the project.
The company had its beginnings in 2012. A family oriented business (the company name stands for the initials of Darryl and the couple’s two children) it offers clients a great deal of expertise.
Megan comes from an extensive civil construction project management and contract administration background while Darryl is a Licensed Building Practitioner and registered Master Builder.
Megan says the company has grown rapidly and mainly focuses on the residential market building both spec homes as well as undertaking design and build projects, alterations and renovations.
DLM Construction can take care of the entire process offering a turnkey package and can even put clients in touch with a suitable architect if they don’t already have their own plans.
“We enjoy following latest trends and materials, and work closely with architects and designers to provide our clients with the latest products and solutions,” says Megan.
“Building a new home or making changes to an existing house is exciting. We take the stress out of the project by working alongside with our clients to provide practical solutions and ongoing communication at every step of the way.”
Megan says the company places a high value on quality, as evidenced by their House of the Year competition wins in 2017.

With Darryl ‘hands on’ working on site, he is able to closely monitor what’s going on at every stage of the project, says Megan. “We really work together as a strong team.
Together we liaise with the clients ensuring that they get exactly what they want. Darryl, who has amassed around 15 years building experience, is mostly working on site keeping quality levels high.
It’s about offering an end to end service, from start to finish, so the client can be rest assured that they will be delivered a high quality project on time and on budget,” she says. DLM Construction has a solid work schedule ahead.
The company is nearing completion of a home right on the canal in Whitianga Waterways boasting four bedrooms, an expansive deck onto the canal and shared boat ramp.
A show home will be opening in Whitianga Waterways in mid 2019 in Stage 10 of the subdivision under a parent company – Nautical Homes.
