David Reid Homes Taupo has c ontinued to grow since Scott and Melissa Hare took over the business in August 2017. The couple opened a new showhome at the end of last year and is completing a number of builds in the region.
Located at the entrance to Nga Roto Estate in Wharewaka, the showhome is strikingly different comprised of two wings joined at the centre by the entrance to separate the living and sleeping areas.
Clad in Linea Oblique weatherboards and stained feature cedar, the home has a look that stands out while the use of natural materials ensures it compliments the landscape, says Melissa.
The showhome was based on the David Reid Homes’ Discovery series, designed with modern lifestyles in mind.
It features grooved ceilings in the living area resulting in a light and open feel. It also includes a scullery hidden behind the sleek matte black cabinetry in the kitchen.
Melissa says the response to the home has been overwhelmingly positive: “It’s a stand-out design and people are definitely wowed by it,” she says.
The David Reid Homes Taupo franchise extends across the Central Plateau from Tokoroa in the north to Taihape in the south. The franchise has been building in Taupo since 2004. Scott’s building experience is one of the things that sets the franchise apart.

Melissa says can build from clients’ own plans, from the David Reid Homes’ plan range, or they also offer a full design-and-build solution.
It is are currently building in Nga Roto Estate, located close to town with some sections offering lake and mountain views.
