Auckland builders grab brace of awards
The stunning home that won gold for Create + Construction boasts fi ve bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a 16m tiled swimming pool, spa and sauna.

Auckland builder Create + Construct has taken out two awards at the Auckland region 2018 Registered Master Builder House of the Year competition.
The company won a gold award in the over $2m new homes section and a silver in the builder’s own home category. It is also a gold reserve finalist for the House of the Year national competition.
Company directors Clint and Tracey Lockwood’s home in Westmere saw a 1920’s bungalow transformed into a home with all the modern comforts.
Traditional details have been kept including stained glass windows and pressed ceilings while sash windows have been replaced with double glazed replicas and there is a fully ducted airconditioning and moisture control system, along with insulation throughout.
Without adding on to the home it was transformed from three to four bedrooms and two bathrooms by making smart use of the space.
Although the section is only 440 square metres they still managed to find room for a plunge pool and an alfresco dining area. The Shoal Bay home which they won the gold award for was designed by Graham Pitts Architects and the interiors by Trinity Interior Design.
The five-bedroom, eight-bathroom, 620sqm family home boasts its own ramp to the water.
Outdo or spaces incorporate a 16m tiled swimming pool, spa and sauna. Exterior Special features include a six metre high waxed steel door.
Clint says the client wanted to incorporate passive design to the home. Features include a Viking WarmRoof system and Stotherm insulated block to the exterior walls, which stores the heat.
Beneath the pool is a rain water tank, which recycles the grey water for use in the toilet systems and irrigation.

Vertical cedar cladding on the outside of the award-winning home blends in with the natural environment.

Clint says that while the awards are recognition of the hard work he and his team put in, it is business as usual with most work coming by referral, both from satisfied clients and architects the company regularly works with.
A boutique building company Create + Construct was started in 2014. Clint offers around 15 years experience to his clients including time spent working on high end residential and shop fitouts in London.
Create + Construct employs a team of around 15. Tracey’s strengths are in the organizational side of the business and she is also a draftsperson.
One distinctive offering that Create + Construct gives client’s is a visual board put together by Tracey, which sees her source and select the colours, fittings, floor finishing’s etc for their project.
It’s a time consuming process and needs the right eye to achieve the right look for the client and project, says Clint.

Windows are positioned to catch light at all times of the day and to show glimpses of the outdoors no matter where you are in the home.

Create + Construct works at the upper end of the residential market and works with the client and designer to plan, prepare and build each project.
Clint says that with strategic sequencing of the job they achieve total efficiency and a high level of finish.
He has three crews Auckland wide to push jobs ahead, allowing the ability to hit the ground running from any stage of the design process.
“I’m pretty happy with where the company is at and what we’re achieving for our clients. The aim is to simply keep on doing what we are passionate about with award winning levels of quality and finish.”
