Construction Management Group’s extensive experience undertaking church projects is being put to good use on current project St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Auckland.
The project designed by BS M Group Architects, will see an adjacent hall incorporated into the church structure and full structural strengthening of the church and steeple.
The project will include a new 185-seat auditorium, lounge, kitchen, offices and meeting rooms plus an upgrade of the toilets and existing church.
Construction Management Group started the 15 month project in October and company managing director Dave Redmond says past experience completing numerous similar project has helped ensure the project will meet timelines and budget.
Construction Management Group was established in 1991 as a contracting and building company. Over the subsequent years the company expanded its client base and diversified to include project management and capital cost budgeting.
The building company was restructured and incorporated to form Construction Management Group (Building) Ltd in 1996 and now operates in the greater Auckland region.
Around 70% of the company’s work is for the education sector. Construction Management Group also works extensively in the commercial and residential markets.
Dave says a key point of difference is that Construction Management Group employs all its own staff – 38 full time foremen, builders, carpenters and apprentices.
By controlling its own labour this enables the company to regulate both quality and timing of the projects.
Construction Management Group has facilitated a good team working relationship. Everyone knows each other and some staff have been employed by the company for over a decade. This means there is a lot of experience captured in-house.”
He says that health and safety is a big focus, especially due to the amount of projects the company completes for the education sector.
All Construction Management Group staff have up to date Site Safe passports and are all police vetted. Stringent systems help the company to maintain the high quality levels it has built a reputation for.

Construction Management Group is a member of the Certified Builders Association of New Zealand and provides a 10-year guarantee on all residential projects.
At present the company has a number of projects underway including a project at Mt Albert Baptist Church, residential new homes as well as various capital works and accessibility contracts for the Ministry of Education.
Construction Management Group is a preferred contractor for The Salvation Army and has just finished church upgrades at Glen Eden and New Lynn.
