Clearwater Construction & Marsden Group – Wyndham Garden Christchurch

“We look forward to creating a hotel, which will reflect the creative and vibrant culture the city of Christchurch is renowned for,”

Marsden Group Director - Michael Osborne

The newly constructed Wyndham Garden Christchurch City is open for business adding to the already vibrant inner city mix.

The eight-storey development features 96 apartment style rooms, 30 apartments, a conference room, gym and onsite cafe. It will mark Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ second Wyndham brand hotel for Christchurch, following the opening of Ramada Suites Christchurch. It is the second Wyndham Garden in the country.

Wyndham Garden Christchurch City will be managed by Marsden Group and director of sales and marketing Roger Taitt says that because Wyndham Garden Christchurch City is centrally located near the city’s bustling foodie scene, with restaurants and cafés just a five minute walk away, as well as the casino and new Christchurch Convention Centre, it is ideal for business and leisure travellers looking for a convenient stay.

“Guests who are visiting for leisure are also just a short distance from key attractions and experiences including the International Antarctic Centre, where they can explore the wonders of Antarctica, the Christchurch Riverside Markets, and the city’s iconic heritage buildings and unique architecture such as the Cardboard Cathedral,” he says.

Roger says that guests will appreciate free perks like WiFi in public areas. The soundproofed guest-rooms also offer free WiFi and iPod docks. Entertainment options include Smart TVs with satellite channels, while kitchenettes and coffee/tea makers provide the conveniences of home. A coffee shop, dry cleaning, and luggage storage are also on offer.

“Our rooms feature a sleek, modern design with 60 apartment-style options including kitchen facilities for a home-cooked meal, washing machine and clothes dryers for added convenience. Larger groups and families can take advantage of interconnecting rooms for extra space,” he says.

Wyndham Garden Christchurch City is New Zealand’s 16th hotel under Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific’s distinct brands—Wyndham Garden®, Ramada® by Wyndham, La Quinta by Wyndham and Microtel by Wyndham —with locations in Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown and Wanaka.

Wyndham Garden is a global brand with hotels located in key business, airport and suburban locations across the United States, China, South East Asia, Europe and throughout Australasia.

Each hotel is designed for travellers on the road for business or leisure and with almost everything guests need during their stay, people can relax the moment they arrive.

Ben Schumacher, Vice President Operations, South East Asia and Pacific Rim, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts says that as Christchurch is a city continuing to evolve with a focus on urban regeneration this made it an obvious choice for opening the Group’s newest hotel in Australasia and showcasing its new world-class design for Wyndham Garden properties.

“The hotel will provide a stress-free stay for all types of travellers, and place them on the doorstep of a fascinating city combining innovation and heritage,” he says.

Developer and builder Clearwater Construction undertakes large scale residential, commercial, industrial and car park projects as either a specialist sub-contractor, main contractor or a design-build contractor.

Clearwater Construction managing director Mike Sullivan says that the Wyndham Garden Christchurch City apartments, that offer spectacular views, are “selling like hotcakes” to mainly owner/occupiers.

He says that Wyndham Garden Christchurch City is a good example of Clearwater Construction’s reputation for quality, innovative, cost-effective construction.

Marsden Group director Michael Osborne says that it’s a privilege to be working with such a well-established and respected global hotel brand like Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

“We look forward to creating a hotel, which will reflect the creative and vibrant culture the city of Christchurch is renowned for,” says Michael.

“Our on-going partnership with Wyndham remains strong and we hope to roll-out more Wyndham Garden hotels in other regions of New Zealand in the coming years.”
