Tauranga Central meets a growing demand
The new Quest Tauranga Central has helped to meet demand in the growing market for high quality serviced apartment style hotel accommodation, says David Lile, manager franchise operations for Quest Apartment Hotels New Zealand and Fiji.
After opening in August there have been strong bookings, he says. “Tauranga is a fast growing regional city with lots of people and industry moving here. The domestic corporate sector is our priority market,” says David.

The new Quest Tauranga Central complements the existing Quest on Durham, which offers 29 rooms and a new site in Mount Maunganui, which will be delivered in 2021. Quest Tauranga Central has 42 serviced apartments including studios, one and two bedroom apartments.
David says studios are a popular alternative to a hotel room as each comes with a fully equipped kitchenette, while the one, two and three bedroom apartments cater for families, colleagues or larger groups looking for a home away from home experience.
Studios are around 30sqm and offer a comfortable king or queen bed, apartment-controlled heating/air conditioning, kitchenette with bar fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave, ensuite bathroom with amenities and hair dryer, desk, LCD TV, washer, dryer, wardrobe, ironing board and iron.
A one bedroom apartment is typically 52sqm and offers a relaxed living area containing a sofa, LCD TV and work desk. The well-equipped kitchen provides a cooktop, fridge, and dining table. The bathroom offers laundry facilities, amenities and hair dryer.
The two bedroom executive apartment is a studio interconnected with a one bedroom apartment and comprises around 82sqm. Both bedrooms can be configured as either a king or two single beds.
A daily housekeeping service, excluding Sunday and public holidays, is included in all options.Quest also caters to corporate travellers by offering options such as breakfast packs or having a charge back relationship with local restaurants and cafes to make things convenient.
Due to its location Quest Tauranga Central has a selection of restaurants and cafés all within minutes of the apartment hotel. Alternatively guests can chose to stay in and cook in the comfort of their room.
Quest offers a pantry shopping service and can have groceries delivered to guests’ apartments. Rooms are set up so corporate travellers can easily work with a desk, complementary unlimited high speed internet access, direct dial phones, in-room desks and business administration services.
David says that Quest also offers corporate hotel accounts, which allows guests to access negotiated rates for their preferred Quest properties either direct with the property through the new Quest booking app or via their travel agent.
All bookings made via the app will qualify the guest for Air New Zealand Airpoints via the Airpoints number stored in their profile.
David says building a relationship with returning guests is fundamental for Quest and due to the repeat nature of their business, it is important to ensure that they always have a reliable experience no matter where in the country they might stay at a Quest.
Quest offers 35 different locations in New Zealand and has new Quests properties opening in Palmerston North, Hastings, Takapuna, Auckland Christchurch and Mount Maunganui over the next 12 to 24 months.
