Craig Cogan Builder has completed a number of homes in Marsden Cove over the past years.

It is this experience of building in the unique waterfront/canal environment that sets the company apart, says Craig.

“It’s a unique place to build so it’s important that people think about choosing a builder who perhaps lives locally and has a good understanding of the local climates and of waterfront properties to maximise the waterfront/canal living experience,” he advises.

Other important factors he considers when building such a home is selecting the correct building products and design details to ensure longevity in a coastal environment as well as a clear understanding of what is important to the client with the build.

It’s testament to the reputation of the Craig Cogan Builder team that they recently completed a personal home of the Marsden Cove developer.

The two storey 300 square metre home has large vaulted ceilings with skylights to give the living area a spacious feel.

This area opens out onto a large deck, which includes a heated portico area. The home is clad in vertical cedar and a Coloursteel Espan roof.

Craig shirks away from self-praise and believes the reputation of the company for producing high quality builds comes down to having a experienced and reliable team of carpenters and sub trades that can work and communicate together to give the client exactly what they asked for.

Craig offers his clients three decades experience as a builder and has worked extensively overseas in England, Norway, Australia and the United States.

He is a business member of New Zealand Certified Builders and a S2 Licensed Building Practitioner.

Based at One Tree Point, Craig Cogan Builder works from south of Whangarei to Mangawhai.

The company offers the Certified Plans range from New Zealand Certified Builders as well as a boutique range of home plans from Arcline Architecture. Also offered is a full design-and-build option.

Each new home comes with a comprehensive New Zealand Certified Builders Halo 10 year residential building guarantee. Communicating with clients every step of the way is key, particularly as many clients live out of town.

Craig Cogan Builder offers clients access to a secure website with all of the details of their project where they can make selections, upgrades, financial decisions, ask questions and view documents, photos and more.

Craig feels clients appreciate talking to a builder rather than a salesperson about their new home.

“We find having a qualified building back ground gives the clients practical solutions and straight up answers making the process smooth and enjoyable.”

It is no surprise then that a lot of the company’s work is by word of mouth. Craig says he operates his business with transparency and it is something clients appreciate.

It’s a unique project and one Craig says he is looking forward to working on. The home includes three different claddings – horizontal shiplap cedar, plastered brick and Trespa panel.

It includes three bedrooms and two large garage areas for boat and cars. The build will also include a private boat ramp.

“I take great pride in sharing the dreams and vision of clients and delivering them a home that they will truly love.”
