Business Rural North – Winter 2021

Hawke’s Bay deer farmer and 2021 Nuffield Scholar Ben Anderson is on a mission to help farmers monetise sustainability and maximise their returns. Currently sustainability is treated as a regulatory tool with a handbrake effect. Ben wants farmers to farm in a way that is not only sustainable but is also good for the back pocket. Woolgrower Tom O’Sullivan, who chairs the New Zealand arm of the global Campaign for Wool initiative, believes positive change, now under way, will help support a brighter future for wool.

Immortalised in the Drysdale Overture, Drysdale Station has been part of the Lilburn family journey for 125 years. Today Drysdale Station is run by fourth-generation Hugh Lilburn and his wife Pru.
