New complex will ‘set the benchmark’

A new development at Onehunga aims to set a new benchmark for the area, says Joe Holden, project manager for development company Avanda. “It’s a totally different product from anything else offered in Onehunga,” he says.
Designed by Creative Arch, Onehunga Bay Terraces is located close to Onehunga Bay Reserve and will offer 38 terraces and six apartments.
Joe says the aim is to create a community feel in the development and encourage interaction between residents with communal spaces and high quality landscaping.
Each terrace is on three levels with a garage, bedroom and ensuite on the ground floor, living, kitchen, laundry and dining leading to a deck on the next floor and two bedrooms, storage and additional bathroom on the third level.
Special features, such as a 3.3 metre high stud in the bedrooms on the upper level give the home a design edge both internally and externally and floor to ceiling windows.
Kitchens are euro-style and fitted out with the latest Fisher & Paykel appliances. High quality solid construction features concrete walls, a high Sound Transmission Class rating and double-glazing.
Another example is concrete driveways with paving laid on top rather than just laying the paving directly on the ground, which sees grass and weeds growing through the joins over time.
Joe says this kind of care and attention to detail has been taken with all aspects of the project.
The design is contemporary but with a warm, traditional feel, says Joe. For example brick cladding is mixed with modern aluminium balustrades, pergolas and louvres specially designed for the project.
The project is being constructed by Orient Construction, a company that Joe says has built a strong reputation for formwork and concrete construction for over 22 years. It is being marketed by Barfoot & Thompson.
Onehunga Bay Reserve is being undertaken by Avanda Group who Joe says is passionate about partnering with communities to build vibrant neighbourhoods where people can feel happy, secure and connected.
Avanda Group does this by combining its expertise in all areas of property development, including planning and construction, design, and stakeholder engagement,” he says.
Avanda Group currently has several projects underway in Auckland including West Edge in New Lynn where approximately 2000 contemporary homes will be built, Hobsonville Airfields which will deliver over 500 new homes in partnership with Auckland Council arm Panuku Development and 121 Grafton, a new mixed use high rise development offering apartments and retail.
Joe says that Onehunga Bay Reserve is proving popular with singles, families, working couples and retirees.
He considers that it is the perfect gateway to Auckland City – close to the airport, motorways and central city. The project is currently under construction and people will move in by September 2019.
Prices for the terrace homes start at $899,000 and approximately 54 square metre one bedroom apartments at $578,000. “Onehunga Bay Terraces will bring a new dynamic to Onehunga.”
