Dealership setting new benchmark

Dealership setting new benchmark
The new 1200sqm showroom, workshop, and offices includes a four-bay workshop and full gantry.

Now operating from purpose built and sophisticated new premises, right at the gateway to Feilding, TRC Tractors has set a new bench-mark in professionalism for tractor dealerships in the Manawatu.TRC Tractors moved to its new Turners Road site in September. The company started in 1946 and has since grown out of two previous locations.

TRC Tractors branch manager Aaron Meurk says the new 1200sqm showroom, workshop, and offices on a 7000sqm site is hoped to future proof the company and contain its continuing growth for the next 10 years.“We’ve got a lot more space and a state of the art, four-bay workshop with a full gantry which has created a safer working environment for our eight technicians,” he says.

“We’re able to carry a lot more parts stock and our showroom is so sophisticated with polished concrete floors and a professional layout. We’ve always wanted to set a high standard and I feel like we’re doing that with the presentation of this new premises.”

Aaron designed TRC Tractors’ new building after visiting other tractor dealerships and noting what worked and what didn’t. The building was a very cost effective option provided by Fair Dinkum Sheds. “This is a tin shed, but we’ve been able to make it a sleek and refined, professional building.”

The additional space TRC Tractors now has has allowed for some growth of the team. Aaron has taken on two new technicians so TRC Tractors is now running eight technicians, six of whom are on the road in service vehicles providing clients with 24/7 back up.

Aaron says he is fortunate to have a long-standing team of technicians, a foreman who has been with the business for 30 years, a few staff who have been there for 10 years, and some switched on new staff who are setting a high professional standard.

Aaron and his business partner Brendon Hart have both come through the car dealership world into the tractor industry, and a professional impression is important to them both.

“We don’t just want to reach the benchmark, we want to set it,” Aaron says. “As well as our new lo-cation, we now have a new logo, new branding, and a new uniform for all the staff. We follow that up with excellent service and great back up support for our customers.”

TRC Tractors only carries products from the premium brands and is a master dealer for AGCO brands Fendt, Massey Ferguson Valtra, Iseki, and Fieldmaster, as well as franchise holder for Pottinger Machinery.

TRC Tractors has also recently taken on the agency for Scotland’s Stewart Trailers, whose build quality Aaron says is second to none. “All they do is trailers, and they do them well.

Stewart Trailers is new to New Zealand and we are going to try to lift the brand as a premium product.” TRC Tractors is fortunate to be the only 100% locally owned tractor dealership in Feilding. “That’s quite a big thing for us,” Aaron says.

“We want to be able to keep our customers happy and to do that, we need to provide high quality product and high quality service. We want to set the benchmark and become the go-to place in the Manawatu for all tractor and mechanical requirements.”
