Auckalnd’s A-Line Construction is currently working on a new school north of Kaitaia for the Ministry of Education, which has been built utilising modular construction.
A-Line Construction project manager Daniel Abercrombie says that the challenging location of the school meant that building relocatable classrooms made sense.
Also building the classrooms off site meant that there was limited disruption to school activities.
The classrooms utilise A-Line Construction’s A-Space modular buildings. The rooms are all double-glazed with durable lining and cladding and insulated to Ministry of Education standards.
The new school is made up of 12 modular buildings, creating eight learning spaces, administration area, resource room, staff room and library. There is also a new multipurpose space, and covered walkways between the buildings.
The demolition of Oturu School’s current school buildings will take place over the Christmas break and the new school will be ready for students for the start of the 2019 school year.
Daniel says that A-Line Construction sees great opportunities for modular construction.
“Through A-Space modular buildings, we want to promote and deliver the benefits of modular construction. Our A-Space buildings are transportable and relocatable and are designed specifically for the education market, but can also be used in a number of other applications. From shortened project completion to minimal on-site disruption, there are many advantages to choosing modular construction.”
Formed in 1993, A-Line Construction specialises in commercial, education and healthcare projects and is primarily focused on design and build construction.
Daniel says it is a simple approach to construction where the team works together with the client in clear communication and a focused partnership for a successful result:
“As every construction project has its own unique demands the design and build process means that we can tailor construction to meet all requirements while still ensuring quality, buildability and, most importantly, being extremely cost effective.
“Our team’s ingenuity and problem-solving ability means we can work together with our clients to create great environments. We believe that sitting at the same table with our clients is when great ideas are born, leading the way for innovative solutions that bring down costs, and make the construction more efficient and streamlined,” he explains.
Daniel says that A-Line Construction has built a notable track record of successful construction projects over a range of industries. Combined with the team’s expertise this has seen the company’s services in demand.
The company is mainly focus on projects in the North Island, concentrating on the current growth trends around the Auckland and Northland region. Daniel says that the company’s core values are key to everything it does:
“We set ourselves high benchmarks and goals to make certain that projects we undertake result in successful outcomes. Building strong relationships with our clients and meeting their expectations makes it clear why many of our clients keep coming back to us.”
