Marra Construction has a recently completed a project for the Papamoa Primary School Board of Trustees at Papamoa Primary School that has resulted in a new teaching block and refurbishment of an existing administration block.

Marra project manager Dean Lawrence says that the design-and-build project involved input from Marra in the concept stages as well as close liaison with the Board of Trustees to ensure the building met Ministry of Education performance standards around criteria such as weather tightness, durability and acoustics.

Existing buildings on the site were removed during school holidays to avoid disruption to students and staff The build commenced in August 2017 and the project was completed in mid-2018.

The new 620 square metre building consists of precast concrete panels and Stria cladding, aluminium joinery and glazing. Marra will build a new entrance for the administration block, re-pitch the roof and refurbish the building’s interior.

Dean says the success of the project has depended on a team effort by all involved – Frequency project management, DCA Architects, BCD and Cosgroves.

Key challenges have included working in a live school environment and this is where Marra’s robust project management and health and safety procedures have come to the fore along with strict quality control systems, says Dean.

“At Marra we bring a wealth of technical and practical knowledge and experience to each and every project.

“We are only as good as the work we complete and this is dictated by our team and we are proud that the quality and work ethic demonstrated by the Marra team is second to none allowing us to complete successful projects such as this on time and on budget.”
